About Sunrise Children's School

Established in 2003, Sunrise Children’s School (SCS) is recognized as a model educational program for young children. We are dedicated to “best practices” in meeting the cognitive, language, physical, and social/emotional needs of children.

SCS only incorporates developmentally appropriate practices and follows DSS and the National Association of Education for Young Children (NAEYC) standards while incorporating The Creative Curriculum.

SCS is located on Sullivan’s Island in the Sunrise Presbyterian Church just minutes from Mount Pleasant, Charleston, and Isle of Palm.

Children who are between the ages of two and four (before September 1st) are eligible to enroll in educational programs at SCS. School days are from 9 AM to 12 PM and the available options are listed below. To learn more about our programs, visit our objectives page.

A Transition Program will take place in August and help ease students into the start of school. It includes home visits, play-dates, and an open house to familiarize children with their new environment. We have a ratio of 2 teachers to 10 students.

Additionally, we offer special after school activities as part of our Stay-n-Play program. They consist of monthly sessions, Mondays thru Thursday, 12:00-2:00 PM. The fees are not part of school tuition, are paid in advance(the month prior) and are nonrefundable. The activities are varied your children will have a great time.

Other important details about Stay-n-Play:

  • Hours are 12-2 PM (Monday-Thursday)
  • Program cost is $10 per day
  • Packed lunch must be provided from home (please remember SCS is a peanut-free school)
  • Pick-up promptly at 2 P

Registration for the following school year will be held in January for returning students and February for all others. Registration fees are due upon acceptance into the program and are NON-REFUNDABLE. The Registration form can be found on our forms page.
